Space communication with SNSPDs
Single Quantum Iris X
Iris X is a flexible SNSPD system that supports both free-space coupling and fiber-based configurations. Its high detection efficiency and low noise make it a powerful tool for demanding applications, including deep-space communication and laser communication. Iris X delivers precise photon detection, enabling advancements in optical networks and space exploration. It comprises a cryostat with an optical window, which can host an SNSPD array up to 36 pixels.
Iris X is suitable for a variety of applications such as bio-imaging and deep-space optical communication.
Iris X highlights
- low noise environment for photon detection
- ample space allocated for auxiliary components
- the capability to host an SNSPD array of up to 48 pixels
Single Quantum x NASA Psyche Spacecraft
We are proud to announce a groundbreaking project for the ESA/NASA Joint Technology Demonstration with NASA Psyche Spacecraft. We will contribute with our technology to the latest achievements in laser communication and we can’t be more excited about that!
The Psyche mission will test a sophisticated deep space communication link at telecom wavelengths to stream data from hundreds of millions kilometer away. Here, Single Quantum will step in by providing with a low dead time, low jitter, single photon detector array for the ESA/ESOC ground laser receiver to be installed in Greece Q4 2024.
Our SNSPD array system will disclose higher data-rates for new potential shorter range missions.
